Age Division Activities > Ages 12 - 15

Activity 1: Describe the Water Cycle, weather and/or pollution. If you live in Michigan, consider selecting a river, lake or body of water where you like to hang out! Describe the environment of the water, changes you notice over a 30 day period and any important details that the reader of your submission should be aware of. Be sure to include a conclusion or any future action, you feel should be taken.

Activity 2: Describe how plants make and store food, how cells use and transport food, and how systems work together in living things. Next use this knowledge to discuss 'Eating to Live or Living to Eat.' Integrate this idea (if possible) Energy – Moving It or Using It into your essay. You may use personal examples or ideas specific to your region.

Activity 3: Describe climate, its the relationship to humans and any recent dynamics that have meaning to you. This year the weather and water (or lack of) have affected many people in many regions in different ways.

Activity 4: Discuss the responsibilities of humans to reduce, reuse, recycle and make responsible choices in terms of natural resources. You may reference your home town or another region in your essay.

Activity 5: Describe how organisms strive to maintain a stable environment, focusing in particular on the organisms' response to attacks by vectors of disease. Discuss any current health and disease issues in the news or your region now and integrate your knowledge of micro-organisms. Consider including any predictions or prevention ideas you have for this situation.
